Parade

I slowly approached the small white Honda. The air was crisp and a bit cold, and a small layer of fog was settling in it. I rushed to the car on a mission to pick up my brother, and needed to get home in a hurry to finish recording. So, I started the car and blaster the windshield wipers to increase visibility, and pulled away. As I drove through the neighborhood, the fog started becoming thicker and thicker. Every time I passed a street light it would either dim or fade out completely, leaving the path out of the maze-like neighborhood only lit by my dimmed headlights. I started racing every corner. The street seemed to be getting thinner, and along with the reduced visibility from the fog, my path seemed more of a mystery than it should have. I mean, I live in this neighborhood, so what should be the problem?

I finally made it out to the streets. They were a bit clearer, and a bit more populated than the neighborhood, but not much. Every light in front of me seemed to turn red, and everyone that looked into my car out of curiosity stared right through me. All the cars seemed taller than mine too, and their windows were tinted, so the driver was just a silhouette of a man or woman without any real identity. None really seemed to pass me; just disappear before I could take a second glance at them.

The fog grew thicker. I couldn't see. So, I picked Jason up and headed home.

We were in the car, and Pink Floyd started playing really loud. The streets were empty, except for a few people walking home from the grocery store on the sidewalks. The people's numbers grew once we got toward the Mexican supermarket. Nothing to worry about, just an observation. I continued on the same street that I previously drove on, to keep a consistency.
Thump.
That was just the railroad tracks, nothing startling there. We continued forward.
Thud.
Nothing really around us, just more people walking on the sidewalks. Some were walking in the bike lane too.
Thud, again. The fog started growing thicker, and the visibility was reduced to nearly zero.
THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD.
I continued driving home, with all of these strange bumps. After I got home, I found red dye on this beautiful white car. Aww man.
