Frogatto is another game that I finally decided to get yesterday, and so far it's pretty good. It's a 2D platformer that has various types of monsters and bosses, and is a great game for a person who wants a game that's pretty long and isn't another crappy platformer.
It starts off in Frogatto's house, where some guy yells at you to get a job. You leave the house and in the next screen telling you how to run, jump, attack, and other stuff. That's just the start of your adventure. You go along to meet new people, who are probably asking you to complete a task, and eventually beat the game, with a lot of game time.
The game's controls are pretty simple, and even though they don't look very convenient, they are easy to use and are just fine for this game. You can experiment with the controls to find different attacking combos, and easily defeat the various creatures. Underwater, the controls are a little different, consisting of a D-pad, and the fact that you can't use your ultimate weapon- your tongue.
The different settings help make the game better. Each different setting is different, with music that fits the tone of the background, and monsters in the appropriate places. There are many places to go, which can get annoying if you don't use a teleport thing.
Monsters in this game vary from bugs to robot cat things, each with their own unique style of attack. A bug may just simply tap you and take away some of your health, while a giant robot can throw a bomb, which you need to suck up and throw at him to defeat him. Each different enemy makes a different challenge, while there might be a swarm of ants to overcome, or just two robot cat things, everything gets more challenging as you move on.
The problem with this game is it's repetition. While every landscape may be different and unique just for it's perfect location, they do get repetitive. While completing a task, it's dreadful just to walk three screens away, and then back. This is the only problem so far that I can see with this game, other than the rare lags.
Overall, this game is pretty good, except for the small bugs and repetition. You should definitely get this game if you like platformers, and if you aren't sure you can download a computer version here.
This game deserves: 8/10 if you don't care about platformers, and 9/10 if you really like these types of games and don't mind going back and forth over and over again.
